ERASMUS PLUS
Changing lives, opening minds
The new Erasmus+ programme aims to support actions in the fields of Education, Training, Youth and Sport for the period 2014-2020. Erasmus+ replaces seven programmes including the former Lifelong Learning Programme, and thus incorporates Leonardo da Vinci, the previous sectorial programme focusing on Vocational Education and Training.
The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability, as well as modernising Education, Training, and Youth work. The seven year programme will have a budget of €14.7 billion; 40% increase compared to the previous spending levels, reflecting EU's commitment to investing in these areas.
Erasmus+ provides opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train and gain work experience abroad. Erasmus+ provides grants for a wide range of actions and activities in the fields of vocational education and training including the opportunity to students, trainees and staff to undertake a traineeship period abroad to increase their skills and employability.
